
Alastair James is a talented singer-songwriter from Scarborough, North Yorkshire. With a sound influenced by the likes of John Martyn, Bob Dylan, The Beatles, Paolo Nutini, Bob Marley, Louis Armstrong, Van Morrison, and many more. Alastair crafts music that resonates with both heart and soul, taking inspiration from the world around, personal stories, and the lives of others.



Alastair’s musical journey began at the age of 14 when he first picked up a guitar and started writing songs. Since his first open mic at Cellars Bar, in Scarborough - 20 years ago, his passion has taken him around the globe, performing in diverse venues and connecting with listeners through his evocative songs and performances.
Highlights include invitations by the BBC to Abbey Road and Maida Vale Studios, supporting high-profile artists such as Nicole Scherzinger and Natasha Bedingfield, performing The Roundhouse in Camden, and the legendary Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club in Soho, recording at the iconic RAK Studios in St John’s Wood, working in the band "The Sultans of Thwing" with early David Bowie collaborator and guitarist - John "Hutch" Hutchinson, sharing the stage with Gary Barlow in the 710 Club aboard the P&O IONA, multiple performances at the Cork Jazz Festival in Ireland, and international tours throughout Spain, Portugal, the French and Swiss Alps, Iceland, Norway, Germany, Holland, Belgium, Turkey, Rhodes, the Canary Islands, and the Caribbean.


Currently, Alastair is immersed in the creative process of writing and recording his new album, which is set to be released later this year. This upcoming project promises to showcase his evolving artistry and continue his legacy of heartfelt, impactful music.
